Ms. Rabia Ikram, M.Sc., RP
I’m a proud immigrant, shaped by the richness of three different cultures, and I speak three languages. As a working professional, I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology and am registered to practice as a Psychotherapist in Ontario.
You may be curious about what led me to choose a career in Psychology over Shoe design or how I’ve managed to remain composed after working for a decade with some of the most vulnerable individuals. The truth is, I find inspiration in the incredible people I meet every day. Each individual carries a unique story filled with pain, courage, and resilience. I believe that our fundamental need to belong and to connect, even in the face of fear and insecurity, reveals our strength. And our ability to overcome life’s adversities with grace and humility is truly awe-inspiring.
“Life doesn’t make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all.” ~ Erik Erikson
I genuinely believe that secure attachments are essential for us to thrive as human beings. So, my heartfelt advice to you is to seek out connection instead of striving for independence. The foundation of happiness and resilience is built on strong relationships. What moves me most is the compassion and unconditional love that people have for their children and each other. As a mother, I am especially touched by my own child’s resilience; she brings warmth to my heart and motivates me to work towards creating a world that is a little less divided. She is my reason to persevere, to remain present, and to cultivate gratitude even during challenging times.
“In my early professional years, I asked: ‘How can I treat, cure, or change this person?’ Now, I would reframe that question as: ‘How can I provide a relationship that this person may use for their personal growth?’” ~ Carl Rogers
In my practice, I aim to show up as my authentic self, embodying warmth, curiosity, and a touch of humour. I recognize the privilege of entering your inner world, and I approach that responsibility with deep care. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel seen and understood, fostering hope and compassion for yourself along the way. You are not alone on this journey, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
